Mr. Roba holds a M.Sc. in Energy Studies from University of Dundee, UK and Environmental studies from Kenyatta University. Mr. Roba has previously been policy analysts at the Kenya Institute of Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA) and Dry lands expert at the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), regional office for Eastern and Southern Africa. Mr. Roba has over 10 years’ experience in environmental conservation, environmental audits, and environmental and social impact assessment in rural and urban settings in Eastern and Southern Africa.

 

Mr. Roba has assessed environmental impacts of existing and proposed refugee camps in refugee hosting areas of eastern African countries of Sudan, Kenya, Ethiopia, Djibouti and Rwanda and made recommendations for the inclusion of specific environmental considerations in the design, operation and decommission of refugee camps.  In addition he has developed guidelines for conducting environmental assessments for, as well as integrating environmental management into energy sectors.  Conducted training on environmental management and auditing for managers, planners, engineers and contractors.

 

Other assignments have also included various environmental studies and sectoral reviews covering water, forestry, energy, livestock, agriculture, education, sociological and gender issues, and settlements. He is a Registered Lead Environmental Impact Assessor / Environmental Audit Expert with the National Environmental Management Authority (NEMA).
